Carving 16 miles of secluded single tracks through the rolling landscape of Devou Park, our Backcountry Trails are a haven for hikers, mountain bikers and anyone seeking a refreshing retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Whether you’re striving for a KOM, looking to stick your trekking poles in the dirt, or simply yearning for a quiet walk among the trees, our sprawling terrain is ready to be traversed. These natural surface trails are made possible by private charitable support and dedicated volunteers. The trail system is managed in collaboration with the City of Covington, the Devou Park Advisory Committee and the Devou Park Trail Collective (DPTC), a nonprofit, volunteer group dedicated to helping ensure the trails continue to be the gold standard and regional destination for decades to come!

Natural surface trails require a robust and ongoing maintenance plan to keep trails safe, functioning as intended, and enjoyable. To supplement the community volunteer efforts, the DPTC networks with trail professionals to manage labor-intensive trail tasks and best practice guidelines for trail design and sustainability.
